PROJECT DETAILS: Start at Russell Mountain Lookout on Sugarloaf trail #1877. We will hike in about 5 miles and camp. On the 3rd, we will be removing downed trees and installing signage. Hike out and leave on the 4th.

September 27-29: Crosscut Sawyer Training
Each of these training sessions will be in or near Enterprise, OR and will start at 5 pm on Friday with classroom training until about 9 pm. Classroom training will resume on Saturday morning at 8 am and conclude by noon, at which time we will head to a nearby field location for hands-on training until about 5pm. Field training will resume on Sunday followed by field evaluations in the afternoon. Plan to be in training until 5 pm Sunday also.

PROJECT DETAILS: Primarily log out, also brushing to re-establish trail corridor, install new signage. Primarily log out, also brushing to re-establish trail corridor, install new signage. This 7-day trip to attempt to complete the re-opening of the 32-Point Trail in southern Hells Canyon. This will be a weeklong trip to clear downed trees and brush from 7 miles of trail along the mid-canyon bench through both Buck Creek and 32-Point Creek. We will be backpack camping on the bench near Buck Creek and working out each day to the North and South. Start from PO Saddle TH and/or Buck Creek TH. There will be travel days on the first and last day of the trip, with a rest day in between.

April 20: College Creek Facilities Maintenance
PROJECT DETAILS: College Creek guard station is located exactly 10 miles upriver from Imnaha. This will include yard work, rolling and removing a section of fence, facility inventory and clean up. I will give a presentation on the history of the guard station built by the CCC during the depression. Meet at the Joseph parking area ( where the public restrooms are) at 10:00 am and we will carpool. Bring your favorite hand tool and gloves.

PROJECT DETAILS: This a backpacking trip, bring any overnight sleeping and food supplies. Meet at E. Eagle Creek Bridge nr. Eagleton, leaving a parked vehicle for later shuttle back to trailhead; hike with packs from E. Eagle Creek TH up Little Kettle Creek Trail to mile 2.66 (fir tree at switchback, +1,440’ elevation); remove brush .1 mile up and .2 mile down trail; continue hike to fir grove (approx. .5 mile distance) to remove 24” log and make camp near stream.
Sunday 8/27: Hike to Crater Lake (3.+/-, +1,200’ elevation), removing 17+ logs and triage brushing; make camp.
Monday 8/28: Hike Cliff River Trail to Sullivan Creek Trail Junction (3. miles,+ 400’ elevation); descend (6.5 miles, -3,720’ elevation) to trail terminus and exit to E. Eagle Creek Bridge, recon trail alignment and conditions, remove logs and brush as needed, eta 4:30p at parked vehicle and 4 mile shuttle to E. Eagle Creek Trailhead.

TRAINING EVENT DETAILS: Crosscut Sawyer A and B Training and recertification. Classes will start on Friday evening with a 2-3 hour indoor Lecture/PowerPoint session. The indoor portion will continue on Saturday morning and then we will go to Hurricane Creek for the outdoor portion with hands-on work with the saws.
