Wallowa Mountains Hells Canyon Trails Association

WMHCTA

WMHCTA is  a dedicated group of hikers, packers, and outdoor enthusiasts who monitor and help maintain our local trails in Hells Canyon and the Wallowa Mountains.

We coordinate with the US Forest Service and organize volunteer work parties to clear downed trees, cut back brush, and do whatever else is necessary to keep our local hiking trails open and accessible.  We also have opportunites to work with youth and help visitors with local information on the trails.

In 2024, Volunteers cleared 213 miles of trail,  removed 1398 trees from trails, improved 966 yards of trail tread, and improved and installed over 31 signs.
