Wallowa Mountains Hells Canyon Trails Association
Francis Lake Trail #1663
September 25, 2021
A Lucky 13 showed up at the Bowman trailhead at 8 sharp on Saturday, September 25 for National Public Lands Day. It was a gorgeous autumn day, with willows, alders, huckleberries, and whortleberries putting on their colors. The team split up into three groups to work on log out, tread and drainage repair, and brushing. In total 26 logs were removed, 27 water bars and drainage dips were cleaned out, and various tread issues on steep side slopes were addressed.
The best part of the day came when the various teams came back down to the trailhead only to find a big pot of delicious stew plus a variety of desserts. It's mighty fine to finish a day's work with good food and conversation. Kudos to all who helped out!
