Minam River in Vicinity of Red’s Horse Ranch

On April 26, 2018, a group of volunteer pilots flew a five-man (yes, they were all guys) trail crew from the Enterprise Airport to Red’s Horse Ranch for some trail maintenance in the Minam River drainage. After settling in to their accommodations, turning on the water and gas, and completing the paperwork for the work party, the crew crossed the Minam and headed downstream on the Minam River Trail (USFS #1673), clearing downed logs and brush as they progressed. The crew returned to Red’s that evening.

On the second day, the crew worked downstream again to a turn-around point near the confluence of the Little Minam River with the main Minam, about 5.5 miles from Red’s. On the last day, the crew split into two groups. One group of two worked upstream along the Minam River Trail, clearing about 3.5 miles from Red’s to Garwood Creek. The second crew of three  worked up USFS trail #1908 toward the Moss Springs Trailhead; they cleared trail to the footbridge across the Little Minam River, 3.1 miles from Red’s.

So the total was roughly 12 miles of trail cleared over 3 days by a crew of five.
