Wallowa Mountains Hells Canyon Trails Association

College Creek Guard Station

April 20, 2024

In this facilities maintenance trip,  7 volunteers  cleaned, raked and mowed around the buildings, cleaned the house top to bottom, removed wasp nests, hauled dead branches, inspected the facility and brushed and located the bottom of the old Beeler Ridge trail.    A buiding inspection was also taken for possible repair work.  The College Creek Guard Ranger station was built during the Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corp, and added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1991.

WMHCTA works to improve recreation trails within the Wallowa Mountains and Hells Canyon areas, making trails more accessible and safe for all. WMHCTA also seeks to protect and provide stewardship for cultural resources on public lands. These activities are done in cooperation with the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.
